Advantages And Disadvantages Of Developing A Business Brand, Logo Or Website In-House Or Using An Outsourcing Partner
When designing your business’ brand, logo or website or other marketing plans, you could consider two options. Outsourcing or having your own employees are the two options for the job to get done. Having the job done in-house means using your own staff to design the brand, the logo and the website of your business. When the designing is done by an outside party, this is called outsourcing. There are pros and cons of both outsourcing and in house designing of a website, brand or logo. There is no clear-cut line on which is the most recommendable. The circumstances of the business owner will determine the choice of whether to design in-house or outsource.
Similar to other projects, designing a business’ brand, logo or website can be a project too. The business owner has more power to direct the project when the project is being done in-house than when being done by the outsourcing partner. The owner can give directions on exactly what needs to be done. The owner can see for themselves the exact progress of the process. In outsourcing there are many clients waiting therefore full focus may not be given to the designing work of any one particular customer. The project can therefore be done faster. Any changes that may need to be done in the brand, the logo or the websites can be done faster in house. Employees know the culture, values and policies of your business more than third parties. In-house expertise may benefit the business owner. The outsourcing partner could be coming from another country that uses a different language from the language of the business owner which could be a problem in communication.
The labor costs incurred in maintaining in-house stuff to work on such a project are quite high. It is also difficult to get in house stuff with all the required skills for the project. Maintaining experts is very expensive especially for smaller businesses and startups. It is not cheap to train the replacement staff once the old experts leave. Being perfect in the job takes a long time because of the learning curve.
The owner may spend less cash in outsourcing than having in-house stuff. With outsourcing, a business gets a wide range of skills in the project. The project is in control of the partner instead of the business owner. The outsourcing partner has access to personal and confidential data. The outsourcing partner is not familiar with the business’ culture and values. The periodic fees must be paid for the outsourcing partner to keep on the brand logo and maintain the website.
